The tour of Pelion

In approximately 1 hour from Lafkos (41 km), we reach Tsagarada, one of the oldest and most famous villages of Pelion. If you look at it from a far point, it seems to be “drowning” in the rich vegetation and vast forests, while on the east it has a panoramic view to the Aegean Sea. In Tsagarada, there are

old stone bridges such as the one that connects the banks of the gully of Milopotamos, as well as important historical buildings, such as the building of Nanopouleio School, the Kartaleio Primary School, currently abandoned or tAchillopoulios Commercial School.

Approximately 20 minutes from Tsagarada (10 km) you will see Kissos, a small mountain village, the main characteristic of which is its dense vegetation, consisting of beech, chestnut, walnut and fir trees and in some places it even disappears. It is one of the quietest villages of east Pelion with unlimited view to the Aegean Sea.

At 15 km (approximately 20 minutes) from Kissos, you will see the beautiful Zagora, the most populated village of Pelion, a mountain place with rich cultural heritage located on the eastern slopes of Pelion and having a view to the Aegean Sea.

At 20 km. from Zagora, you will see Chania, a mountainous settlement located at 1.200 m altitude with green, mainly from beeches, chestnuts and firs. In Agriolefkes area, only 2 km from Chania, there is the ski center of Pelion at 1500 m. altitude.

Going down from Chania to Volos, at 12 km. we meet Portaria, which is built on the western slopes of Pelion, at the north of Volos, in a green slope with abundant running water and unlimited view to Pagasitikos and the surrounding villages.

Once again, you will find picturesque paths, traditional fountains and old mansions.

At approximately 3 km from Portaria, you will see Makrinitsa, which is one of the most popular destinations of Pelion. Its rich vegetation, the preservation of the typical local architecture, the panoramic view to Pagasitikos Gulf and Volos and its many sights justify the numerous visitors.

We keep going down to Volos, where we arrive in approximately 20 minutes. We continue to return to Lafkos which is 48 km. away (approximately 1 hour). Alternatively, we can take the coastal road to Afiso, Lefokastro and then Argalasti and Lafkos.
